WMBD TV News Director is out

It's my understanding that Jody Davis*, the news director at CBS 31 (erstwhile WMBD TV) is no longer with the station. Apparently he left Thursday, and didn't come back. There is dispute as to whether he was fired or resigned under pressure.

When I worked at that station, the News Director was Duane Wallace (real name Duane Funk, he now works in communications at Methodist Medical Center.) Since then, here are the News Directors that have come and gone:

Bob Richardson
Chris Manson
Brent Lonteen
Jody Davis

So during the time WCBU has had one News Director (me), WMBD TV has had four and counting. Longevity isn't automatically synonymous with quality, but really, how can you build something with that much changeover? Then again, the average TV reporter stays in this market for only two years, why should the News Directors stay longer?

*Jody Davis, the former catcher with the Chicago Cubs is still employed. He will manage the Daytona Cubs this year. No relation.
