Billy is the Peoria Blogfather. He was at the front end of Peoria area people starting to take advantage to the technology to do some cool things. Just about every blogger in the Peoria area owes him a debt at some level, as he was the flashpoint for many of us giving this a try, me included.
But I would like to call him out on a bit of hypocrisy. Billy has long talked about how sick he is about talking about blogging to the mainstream media, instead of talking about the issues he blogs about. That's a fair criticism, and I take pride in being one of the first journalists to turn to him for his opinion and analysis of political topics instead of just talking to him about blogging (which I did twice - once for radio and once for TV).
That all said, Billy continues to do things that focuses more on the nuts and bolts of blogging, and less on content. He recently launched another blog, which by my count makes about a dozen he has authored at some time. He has been known for changing his theme and format more often than he changes his (fill in the blank, I'm not going there.) So much so, that he was famously accused of "playing with his thingy". Now he is changing his address.
It's his prerogative, and he can do whatever he wants. But here is my unsolicited advice: stop messing around with things. Pick an address and theme and stick with it for a minimum of two years. Make it easy for people to find your site and take in its content. If you are looking for an example of how this is done well, I submit this example.
Now I like Billy, both as a blogger and a friend. Nothing personal, just some good-natured suggestions, the same kind he has given to me and other mainstream media outlets in town.

I have thick skin, so don't worry about me.
I responded to this post on my site.
But I would liek to remind folks that I'm NOT giving up on peoriapundit.com. The blog will remain up and the links to my posts will NOT vanish.
Eventually, bloggers like Knight in Dragonland and Peoria Illinoisan and the others will see more hits.
Ya know, I'm glad you said this. I don't get it either. Peoriapundit.com is just, well, easy. In fact, just last week Billy was telling me that I should look in to Peoriarocks.com or something simpler than the web address with an extension. Do you get the feeling that there is more to this than meets the eye?
Furthermore, I asked him if I could buy peoriapundit.com from godaddy since he wasn't using it anymore and he didn't answer. What's up with that?
Diane, I think it's part of a vast, right-wing conspiracy. :-P
The only conspiracy in which I want to be involved is a vast BBQ chicken wing conspiracy.
And Diane, I'm KEEPING PeoriaPundit.com. The site is staying up because I don't want to break the massive amount of permalinks to me site that appear in other's posts. I will, eventually redirect hits to "peoriapundit.com" to "pundit.blogpeoria.com"
Just so folks know, I am blogging at peoriapundit.com again.
