The WiFi at City Hall was inoperable tonight. The hardware worked, but when you tried to open a web browser, it shot you to a page instructing you to install your Comcast software to gain access. The good guys that run the Comcast broadcast of the meetings from City Hall told me they specifically advised the powers that be that this needed to be taken care of before the meeting. Those same powers apparently said it was all set. But everything goes trough Chicago now with Comcast in Peoria, so it shouldn't be surprising that it isn't ironed out yet.
It's not that big a deal for me, as I usually use the access to pull up old minutes and agendas when something comes up, and occasionally to send audio and scripts back to the station. Although some people think I use the city hall web access for more nefarious reasons.
Still, probably a bigger deal for John Sharp at the Journal Star, and the council members who enjoy having Internet access at their desks.

Thanks, Comcast

Come on, Jonathan, we all know you use the wifi connection to play Scrabble online during the council meetings! :-P
This is exactly what happened to me at my house. Someone from city hall is going to have sit sit in the council chambers, with a laptop, and wait on hold with Comcast while a poorly-trained, Level 1 tech, goes through the troubleshooting script.
In other words: It won't happen.
